The story of Bhuttos sometimes inspiring and sometimes quixotic career is a fascinating one and Wolpert tells it brilliantly through Bhuttos triumphant years in the mid-1970s, the military coup in 1977, and his treacherous imprisonment and execution in 1979.

Stanley Wolpert (1927–2019) was Professor Emeritus of History at the University of California, Los Angeles.
